This is a 3-month part-time instructor’s certificate course covering a range of theoretical, conceptual and functional skills in teaching phonics and phonetics.

This course aims to improve participants’ pronunciation and command of the English language and moves on to equip participants with the necessary skills and methodology to help children develop their language and literacy skills. The study of speech articulators will equip participants with the capability to rectify speech language difficulties, and the ability to impart the knowledge of phonology and phonetics to the children.

  • Phonology of English
  • Etymology
  • Connected Speech Process
  • Pronunciation Rectification

Students must successfully complete and pass all the stipulated course modules to be awarded the Instructor’s Certificate in Teaching Phonics & Phonetics.

Any of the following:

  • At least passes in 3 ‘O’ Level or 5 ‘N’ Level subjects including a pass in English; OR,
  • Diploma in any discipline; OR,
  • Degree in any discipline.
