HOW CAN I TELL IF MY CHILD HAS ADHD?

The symptoms for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder can easily look like the typical behaviour of ANY young children. In this way, it's not always easy to determine if your child has ADHD.

There are several important characteristics to understand and look out for:

  • is your child excessively inattentive?
  • Is you child overly impulsive and hyperactive?
  • Is your child excessively inattentive, impulsive and hyperactive?

These traits are, however, very typical of any young children in general. Where you must pay special attention is in the consistency of these occurrences.

If you start seeing, over the period of 6 months to 1 year, that your child exhibits any or all of the symptoms in every area of their life, and gets into trouble consistently, then you should probably have the child diagnosed professionally.

Diagnosing your child with special needs, such as Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyspraxia and Dyslexia is very complex and nuanced.

College of Allied Educators offers our Certificate in Learning Disorders Management and Language Development, a 6-month part-time course designed specifically to train potential teachers, parents and caregivers to identify, detect and support children with learning and speech difficulties.

This certificate leads to our Diploma in Learning Disorders Management and Child Psychology, a 12-month part-time Diploma designed specifically to train potential teachers, parents and caregivers to identify, detect and support children with special needs, such as Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia.

These are accredited courses by The College of Teachers, UK.
