CAN YOU REMEMBER YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER?

People who remember their childhood teachers commonly say they remember teachers for being caring, giving them attention and believing in them. These traits are common amongst the most memorable of teachers:

  • They are caregivers, able and willing to build student's self-esteem
  • They believe their students are capable of great things and give their students a sense of hope and purpose
  • They are able to develop trust and respect in the classroom with students and with parents

This creates an environment where students are free to trust and be open to learning; creating a memorable, enjoyable experience they will carry with them their entire lives.

It is also these traits of the most memorable teachers that make for superb Special Educators. The level of trust, confidence, care, time and concern given are the most necessary for students with special learning needs.
